The Times, June 2009
'Chipping Campden has a high street that breathes history and character...still remarkably unspoilt it houses manadatory antiques shops, splendid tearooms and one of the finest wine merchants in England, Pubs and restaurants abound, but the centrep[iece remains the Cotswold House Hotel. Dream up an ideal Cotswold hotel and this meets the vision. Mellow stone, modern outlook; Juliana's fine dining restaurant and Hicks' brasserie serve the village from coffee time to supper. At weekends Hicks' is hectic - Sunday lunch is a treat...- but for midweek lunch it is casual and relaxed...Hicks is best enjoyed from the front room, fashionably furnished and facing out onto the market square. there is a newspaper rack and a fire that blazes through the winter months, but the place is at its best in the summer when sunshine streams through the high windows to give it the feel of a continental bistro.'
Olive Magazine January 2009
In a honey-coloured Regency townhouse in the middle of one of the prettiest villages in the Cotswolds, this hotel is perfect for city dwellers who want a taste of the countryside without getting their wellies dirty. ON THE MENU: Head Chef Steve Love is a local Legend. At the hotel’s Juliana’s Restaurant, he makes brilliant use of regional ingredients in sophisticated dishes such as saddle of Lighthorne Lamb with braised shoulder, tomato couscous and coconut yoghurt, plus there’s a top drawer wine list. Hicks’ Brassiere is more casual with dishes such as pressed salted beef terrine with piccalilli.
HIGHLIGHT: Steve Love’s cooking – and the cheeseboard entirely sourced from farms less than 30 miles away.

AA Hotel Guide 2008 - Inspector's Choice
'This is at the cuttting edge of hotel keeping and relaxation is inevitable at this mellow Cotswold stone house...bedrooms, including spacious suites in the courtyard, are impressively individual and offer an beguiling blend of style, quality and comfort. The restaurant provides a stunning venue to sample accomplished and imaginative cuisine with local produce at the heart of dishes on offer here.'
Alastair Sawday's Special Places to Stay
'Few brochures quite capture the spirit of a place: Cotswold House's is one exception. It [reveals] a tantalising glimpse of what to expect behind the impressive colonnaded entrance of the 19th century wool merchant's house... spoil yourself!'
Mr and Mrs Smith Guide
'Our suite couldn't fail to impress: not only was it massive, with a stone bath for two, it also had a remote-control fire and LED shower lighting that changed colour when you lathered...Cotswold House remains a stylish and brilliantly run hotel in a beautiful part of the world, and it's fair to say that its new [Montrose] wing is a triumph.'
