AA Hotel Guide 2008 - Inspector's Choice
'This is at the cuttting edge of hotel keeping and relaxation is inevitable at this mellow Cotswold stone house...bedrooms, including spacious suites in the courtyard, are impressively individual and offer an beguiling blend of style, quality and comfort. The restaurant provides a stunning venue to sample accomplished and imaginative cuisine with local produce at the heart of dishes on offer here.'
Alastair Sawday's Special Places to Stay
'Few brochures quite capture the spirit of a place: Cotswold House's is one exception. It [reveals] a tantalising glimpse of what to expect behind the impressive colonnaded entrance of the 19th century wool merchant's house... whether you go for a cosy cottage or a sumptuous suite (with hot tubs in private gardens!), you'll find stylishness and contemporary colour, cashmere throws on giant-sized beds, TVs in bathrooms and tubs for two, fresh coffee percolators, top of the range entertainment systems, remote controls to fine tune your viewing and listening pleasure... even a bedding menu. Downstairs, relax in red leather armchairs in the bar and dine - extremely well - in one of the two restaurants: one elegant, one informal. Outside, two acres of walled garden with tumbling borders and secluded spots... spoil yourself!'
Mr and Mrs Smith Guide
'Our suite couldn't fail to impress: not only was it massive, with a stone bath for two, it also had a remote-control fire and LED shower lighting that changed colour when you lathered...Cotswold House remains a stylish and brilliantly run hotel in a beautiful part of the world, and it's fair to say that its new [Montrose] wing is a triumph.'
Rooms for Romance
'This olde worlde facade hides some ultra-chic contemporary interiors. Gadget junkies will be in heaven here.'
McGarvey Russell, Event Management
''We spent a wonderful two days at Cotswold House, during the press launch of the new Mercedes-Benz S-Class. The hotel was perfectly suited to the product - an elegant exterior that hid a myriad of exciting features inside. The staff were attentive and helpful throughout; the food was excellent and innovative and the wine list was very impressive! Cotswold House was a new gem at which nobody in the group had yet stayed and many said they would love to return. The rooms were modern and stylish with all mod cons including tea/coffee making facilities - a real winner - and exclusive Hermes bathroom products. The blazing fires in the communal areas were a real feature on a chilly winter afternoon (when 'Silver Mercedes' cocktails were served) and the Montrose Suite (where a very exclusive dinner was served) was both warm and welcoming and modern and quirky, all glass and candlelight. McGarvey Russell would definitely use this hotel again and can also recommend the Noel Arms opposite.’

'This is the ultimate weekend retreat for those who think the accessory for head to toe tweed is an iPod. Rooms feature complimentary broadband access, the chance to experiment with a bit of mood lighting in a bathroom and a Loewe entertainment system that not only plays music but lets you download digital photos. But the USP must be the recently launched Montrose Rooms, which offer guests the chance to snooze on a special £14,000 bed. There's no comfy mattress though - it's made from 10,000 capsules that contour to the shape of your body.'
